Surrey Young Carers are a remarkable group of youngsters who care for seriously ill members of their family, albeit parents or siblings, as well as having to face the everyday challenges experienced by children in school and family life. The chance to be able to have fun and enjoy a brief period of time of respite is very welcomed indeed, as these children pictured have been able to do.
The Rotary Club of Reigate were able to facilitate a trip to the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill for a group of Young Carers and 5 support staff. The amount of fun and pleasure that this Theatre trip generated is best summed up by Jackie Sanders who is one of the staff who accompanied the Young Carers. “We managed to take 16 Young Carers to a most enjoyable and fun afternoon. The feedback from the group was amazing; many of them have not been to a Pantomime before, they had the opportunity to meet other Young Carers in the same situation, they laughed so much and enjoyed a yummy ice cream!
This support really makes a huge difference to the lives of these young people by giving them a break from their caring responsibilities at home.
We thank you again for making this event possible and look forward to working together again soon.
It’s a privilege to be able to give so much enjoyment to children in our community who give so much of themselves, lovingly, to support their needy families.
