About Jeff Travis
When I asked President Colin if I was too old to become a Rotarian he said at 72 I would lower the Club’s average age. I was further flattered when one member said that the Club needed more younger members like me!
I am very pleased to become a Rotarian, and especially at Reigate because members have been so welcoming and friendly.
I live with my wife Linda who is a lifetime Reigate girl, floral designer and President Reigate Flower Club. We have three grown-up daughters, Joanna, Nicola who married last year and is expecting our 1st grandchild in a few weeks, and Sarah who is marrying next January. For the past 20 years we have lived in Ringley Park Avenue.
My career was mostly spent in the life and pensions side of financial services serving 35 years with Australian Mutual, which acquired London Life and Pearl Assurance. I joined from school and retired as Head of Sales.
I was fortunate to have a 2nd career for the next 6 years as CEO of the Life Insurance Association which was the largest professional body for Financial Advisers with 25000 members.
These days I am still an active contributor with roles as Trustee of East Surrey YMCA serving as Chair of Health & Wellbeing Committee and as a member of Housing Committee; Clerk of Governors at Furzefield Primary and Red Oak Children’s Centre in Merstham; and also enjoy career coaching young people having helped some 30 people into a variety of careers including medicine, law, marketing, retail, project management, teaching, advertising and banking.
For pastimes I enjoy gardening ( under direction by Linda) indoor bowling, fly fishing, dog walking, theatre and opera and most of all spending time with friends.
For holidays Linda and I enjoy exploring the world and sailing.
I look forward to serving as an active member and to getting to know members.
